When elected our next City Councilmember from District 1, I am committed to focusing on the issues that matter most to our community. My top priorities are:

Community Wellbeing

All residents of Vallejo deserve to be safe. To do this, we must invest both in a well-run and ethical Police Department and invest in our community.

As your councilmember, I will work to:

  • Prioritize the recruitment of police officers who hold themselves and their fellow officers to the highest ethical standards; partner with the Sheriff and California Highway Patrol; and invest in neighborhood watch and safety programs to keep Vallejo residents and businesses safe.
  • Continue to advocate for street pavement, traffic calming, and street lighting for better pedestrian safety.
  • Partner with Council to develop a comprehensive homelessness and encampment plan that includes wraparound services, because nobody deserves to live on the street.

Creating jobs and attracting and keeping businesses in Vallejo

As the President of Vallejo Main Street and Chair of the Vallejo Economic Vitality Commission, it’s been my mission to support our small, local businesses and transform Vallejo into a driver of economic growth and job creation. To do this, we need to foster an environment that supports local businesses and those who want to start a business here in Vallejo.

As your Councilmember, I will work to:

  • Partner with the County to encourage entrepreneurship and business expansion.
  • Streamline business permitting and processes.
  • Develop and redevelop underutilized space across the city.
  • Address crime, street quality, and pedestrian safety to foster a positive business climate.
  • Encourage shop-local campaigns and programs that promote local businesses.
  • Make department heads regularly available to answer questions.

Transparency

I am running to be your voice. That means being accessible, bringing folks with me through every step of the policy process, partnering with commissions, council, and staff to elevate challenges and solutions, and providing education on how the government functions so that we can all work together on creating solutions to our most pressing problems.

I am building a coalition not just of voters, but of active citizens who want to stay engaged to make sure campaign promises are implemented. Through increased transparency and making government more accessible, we can break down the barriers that separate council, staff, and community and find common-sense solutions to our problems.

As your Councilmember, I will work to:

  • Partner and leverage commission expertise to address citywide concerns.
  • Increase communication to city residents on City Hall actions.
  • Be a good steward of your tax dollars and minimize government waste.

Ensuring Vallejo is a Welcoming and Inclusive Place for Everyone

Vallejo is one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse cities in the country. Our community is infinitely strengthened through our diversity, and serves as a shining example of what the American melting pot can and should look like. We must shun hate in all its forms and continue to make Vallejo a more welcoming and accepting place for all people.

We also must demand that our city and its lived environment reflects the beauty of the people who reside in it. That’s why I will direct public dollars to public works projects that beautify our city and improve walkability. I also pledge to partner with community-based organizations to provide regular and varied programming to all Vallejoans, and public art that reflects the full spectrum of life in Vallejo.
